Caitlin, Chino, and I are very lucky and grateful to have had a somewhat uneventful experience with Hurricane Irene on Saturday night.
We live close to Battery Park in “Zone A”, so we were forced to evacuate the area as of 5pm on Saturday. We crashed at a friend’s apartment, and subsisted on a steady diet of Weather Channel, CNN, and junk food.
We’re back in our apartment now, and other than the fact that we don’t have hot water (the city shut off steam in our building), considering what so many other people have been through in Virginia, North Carolina, and elsewhere, we’re very thankful.
On Sunday night, some friends and I went to an Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros concert at the Mondrian SoHo Penthouse hosted by Spin, Morgans Hotel Group, and Saturdays Surf (some of my photos of the store can be found HERE).
As you can see, I think we spent more time lounging in the fancy hotel penthouse and admiring the view than actually watching the band, but it was a fun time nonetheless.
Caitlin and I went to Governor’s Island last weekend with our bikes to get out of the city.
I forgot to check the settings on my camera when we got on the ferry, so the first few are taken at ISO 3200 and something like 1/4000th of a second, resulting in a bunch of unnecessary grain. The X100 handles it pretty well, but still not ideal.
